DOUBLE CELEBRATION

The Honorary President of FIDEM, Mr Lars O. Lagerqvist, is celebrating his 80th birthday on February 8, 2009. He is celebrating another anniversary this year which is 55 years as an active member of FIDEM. In 1954, he was asked to help with the FIDEM congress and exhibition of Stockholm (1955).

Mr Lagerqvist is still very active in the field of the art of the medal not only in Sweden but also internationally. At the last congress in Colorado Springs, he gave a talk at the opening about his many years in FIDEM which left many people laughing and in awe of such a person that still can remember the menue of the FIDEM congress in Paris in 1957 down to the wine list! He also gave a special talk on the 200 years relations between Russia and Sweden on medals. Mr Lagerqvist was awarded in 2008 with the French Légion d'Honneur.

The Executive Committe and all his friends of FIDEM would like to take this opportunity to congratulate him on this very special day.
